The public list did not show a full date of birth, home address, housing block, medical flags, magistrate, court date, warrant number, release date, or arresting officer in the unexpanded view. Find court dates and final outcomes in the court system. Ask the arresting agency for report fields the roster does not hold.
Stanly County Arrest Booking Process
A Stanly County arrest can lead to transport to the Ralph McSwain Detention Center. Booking staff create an inmate ID, record demographics, take a photograph and fingerprints, enter the booked time and charges, and classify custody. A magistrate then addresses judicial process and release conditions. G.S. 15A-501 requires an arrested person to be taken before a judicial official without unnecessary delay, but the research found no universal local 24-hour or 48-hour rule.

The detention center is at 126 South Third Street in Albemarle. Booking is reached at 704-986-3739. The separate detention administration page describes a 133-bed modular center, built in 2006 and occupied in 2008, with booking and release areas, a medical station, and five housing blocks.
Those facility facts explain the custody record's role. The jail tracks intake, housing, release, and care. It does not decide whether the filed charge ends in a dismissal, plea, acquittal, or conviction. That later result belongs to the clerk's case file.
Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
The current inmate list is Stanly County's most direct online view of present local custody. It can display identifying descriptors, booked time, custody details, charges through an entry action, and a notification option. The sheriff does not state its update schedule, wildcard rules, minimum search length, or export method. Treat the display as a live custody tool, not a fixed archive.

The official site does not publish a dedicated records-manager name, records email, request form, fee schedule, identification rule, or turnaround. Stanly County Arrest Status Updates
Roster entries include Notify Me of Status Change. That action is useful for a custody change, while statewide victim notification provides another route. It is not a complete history search and does not replace a court disposition. If a person moves to state correctional custody, search the NCDAC locator instead of relying on the county list. The sheriff's inmate visitation instructions explain that visits are non-contact video sessions through NCIC.
Special-visit requests go to Inmate Services at 704-986-3734 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays, at least one week ahead. The sheriff does not publish the nonrefundable visit cost. These rules address contact during custody, not the legal outcome of the arrest.
Effective January 20, 2026, the official detention communication and mail rules moved ordinary mail to a scanning channel.
That operations change affects how families communicate with people in custody. It does not alter the arrest record or court file. It offers tips, crime reporting, agency interaction, and public-safety news, but the web roster remains the verified official custody search.
Arrests vs Convictions
An arrest record says that an agency took a person into custody or documented an arrest. A conviction record says that a court entered a finding of guilt. Booking charges can change after a prosecutor reviews the matter. They may be amended, dismissed, or replaced, and a case can end without conviction.
